Does Vanuatu allow dual citizenship?

How much does Vanuatu citizenship cost?

+

From US$130,000 for a single applicant under the Development Support Program (DSP), or US$165,000 for a family of four under the Capital Investment Immigration Plan (CIIP). A US$5,500 due diligence fee per adult applies. Additional dependants are US$25,000 each. Under CIIP, US$50,000 is returned after a 5-year holding period (T&Cs apply).

How long does the application take?

+

Approximately 45 days from formal submission to passport issuance. Due diligence is typically completed within 20 days, followed by Approval-in-Principle, the Oath of Allegiance, and passport printing.

Do I need to visit Vanuatu to apply?

+

No. The entire process is conducted remotely. The Oath of Allegiance can be sworn virtually. Many of our clients never need to visit Vanuatu unless they choose to.

Is the citizenship hereditary?

+

Yes. Vanuatu citizenship is granted for life and can be passed to your children and grandchildren through descent, providing a permanent legacy for your family.

What countries can I visit visa-free with a Vanuatu passport?

+

Visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 88 destinations including Singapore, Hong Kong, Russia, Malaysia, and most of the Pacific and Caribbean — see the Henley Passport Index for the current full list.

Are there taxes in Vanuatu?

+

Vanuatu is a true zero-tax jurisdiction. There is no personal income tax, no capital gains tax, no wealth tax, no inheritance tax and no gift tax — for both residents and non-resident citizens.

Can US citizens apply for Vanuatu citizenship?

+

Yes. US citizens can acquire Vanuatu citizenship while retaining their US nationality. The process is private and Vanuatu does not share citizenship information with US authorities. US tax filing obligations remain governed by US law.

What documents will I need?

+

A valid passport, birth certificate, police clearance from each country of residence, medical certificate, bank reference, source-of-funds evidence, six passport photographs, CV and proof of address. We handle all apostilles, certified translations and notarisations.

Is there an interview or language test?

+

No. There is no mandatory interview, no language test, no education requirement, and no residency obligation. Approval is granted on the strength of your documentation.

How do I know my agent is genuine?

+

Only government-designated agents are authorised to submit applications and handle funds. Always verify your agent against the official register held by the Vanuatu Citizenship Office. Vanuatu Advance is an inscribed designated agent since 2018.

Can I include my parents in the application?

+

Yes, provided they are aged 50 or above and financially dependent on the main applicant. Each additional dependant is US$25,000.
